On January 1, 2019, the new DSTU 8802: 2018 Standard “Sheet Steel Products with Protective Coating for Construction” came into force. General Specifications ”. Sheet steel products include metal tile, corrugated board, interior wall cassettes, and seam roofing.
DSTU 8802: 2018 sets requirements for the thickness of the rolled steel, the characteristics of the coating and the geometric accuracy; contains requirements for the labeling and packaging of products and regulates compliance with fire requirements. This standard was adopted to protect the interests of consumers and reduce the quantity of low quality raw materials and products on the Ukrainian market.
According to the basic requirements of the new standard, the minimum thickness of rolled steel used for the manufacture of facade and roofing materials is not less than 0.45 mm (including all protective layers), the thickness tolerance is not more than 0.03 mm.
The thickness of the protective coating for external use is 25 μm (polyester) and 35 μm (matte polyester). The minimum grade of metal protective coating for rolled steel is Z140 (with a 10-year warranty from the roll supplier), recommended – Z225. The thickness of the protective coating for internal use, in the presence of organic coating – 15 microns, the minimum grade of zinc – Z100.
